Book Recommendation: "The Walk"

I love books. No, not eBooks, not text read from a device, but a real book with paper pages. I have this thing for the feel of a paper page and the smell of a book. Am I alone in this? Will all our traditional books go by the wayside one day? I hope not!

Beside my bed I always have a stack of books and magazines (I love magazines, too!) and read a bit before bed at night. The latest book I'm reading is "The Walk" by Richard Paul Evans. It is a series and I'm now on the second book, "Miles to Go".

I HIGHLY recommend this book series for absolutely anyone. There is no foul language or uncomfortable situations described in this book. It is pure and clean. It has a great story line and the author writes in a way that wraps you into the characters' lives.

"What would you do if you lost everything—your job, your home, and the love of your life—all at the same time? When it happens to Seattle ad executive Alan Christoffersen, he’s tempted by his darkest thoughts. Instead, he decides to take a walk. But not any ordinary walk. Taking with him only the barest of essentials, Alan leaves behind all that he’s known and heads for the farthest point on his map: Key West, Florida. The people he encounters along the way, and the lessons they share with him, will save his life—and inspire yours.

A life-changing journey, both physical and spiritual, The Walk is the first of an unforgettable bestselling series of books about one man’s search for hope."

Buy it now, or visit your library! You'll be glad you did!

  1. Thanks for the recommendation, Shirley. It sounds like a great trilogy to take along on vacation. I've put it on reserve at my local library.

    1. Mary,
You won't be disappointed. I'm almost done with the second book. :-)

  2. Nothing can take the place of a book which you hold in your hand. Sure ebooks take up less space but they don't have the smell or feel. There is no crackling sound as you turn the pages. Thanks for the book recommendation I'll check it out. When I'm not crafting I'm reading. :-)

    1. Hi Beth,
I'm sure you will enjoy it. It really makes me think...and is good for the heart.

  3. I read the whole series. Think it ended up being five books. They are great and have such a beautiful message. When we lived in Utah, I was fortunate to attend several events featuring Mr. Evans and spoke to him many times. As I try to clear out books, this is one series that will be passed down to my family. Other favorite authors include Sandra Dallas and Mitch Albom.
