A few more backgrounds...

I love my Dylusions Spray Inks and Journal. I am able to keep it all set up on a table in my art room and work on a page or two each day. I'm just working on trying out various sprays and techniques right now. I have a lot in mind for these pages, but this stage comes first.

For this first page set I stamped with gel medium, let it dry, then sprayed the pages. The gel medium resists the inks and leaves a white image from the white base page.

For this spread I sprayed a combination of October Afternoon Sprinklers. Next I added a stamped image with Staz-on Ink, and then spread gel medium through a homemade stencil (Cricut Paper Lace). Once the gel medium is dry, I sprayed with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist. Again, the gel medium resists the final spray and gives a subtle image.

Day Book and Journal pages

Just ran across the Simple Woman's Daybook

FOR TODAY

Outside my window...I see a wonderful sunshiny day!

I am thinking...about creating loads of projects, as usual!

I am thankful...for my family

In the kitchen...is my hubby and #2 son chatting about the day.

I am wearing...sweatpants and a t-shirt.

I am creating...an Easter gift for my mother

I am going...to clean the bathroom today...really!!

I am wondering...what to bring to Easter dinner

I am reading...the latest editions of a few crafty magazines: Art Journaling and Quilting Arts

I am hoping...I don't read through the mags too quickly!

I am looking forward to...seeing my family on Easter at my sister's house

I am learning...that I get too ruffled when things are not in my normal routine. And I don't like that...I want to be OK with whatever happens...and have a good attitude (ooh, it's hard!)

Around the house...I need to clean the bathrooms!!

I am pondering...purchasing a new mattress.

A favorite quote for today...keep it simple.

One of my favorite things...is to hear the birds sing outside my window.

A few plans for the rest of the week...more of the same...oh yeah, lots of cycling.

A peek into my day...messy art studio, working on multiple things at one time, but loving trying out new products I've recently purchased.

Here's a few pages of the journal I'm messing with. Dylusions Ink Sprays from Ranger and Dylusions Journal. Stencils made from my Cricut Expression and cardstock. Lots of texture using the sprays, stencils, mesh, etc.

Even the paper towels for clean-up look great!

Juggling products

Not true juggling, but sort of. I'm working on several projects at once to give things dry time and thought I'd pop in to let you know about a few products I like.

I just bought some Claudine Hellmuth Gesso by Ranger and absolutely love it! I have a 4oz bottle and will definitely purchase a larger bottle next time. Well, I just looked online and only see a 4oz jar. They definitely need to make a larger size! The project here? The start of my paper mache egg for Catherine Scanlon's class, "In + Out Easter Egg Diorama" at My Creative Classroom(MCC).

Next up is Mod Podge. Mod Podge Rocks! This project is part of my lesson for a joint class at MCC with Catherine, Jennifer Priest and Cristal "Pinky" Hobbs, "Scrapbooking: Home Decor". Not your average scrapbooking class, but very cool out-of-the-book and on-the-wall type of projects using your favorite family photos.
What are you working on?

Course Description
Dust off your Cricut machine, grab your favorite photos and let’s create some beautiful and unique scrapbook layouts…one for every month of the year. Come join three MCC instructors for this four-week class as we create a total of 12 layouts with themes such as birthday, traditional holidays, and travel. Using the provided sketches and examples, students will be able to translate the presented layouts to any theme with an adjustment of papers and accents, so please join us even if you won't necessarily scrapbook the same monthly themes that we will.

Along with the monthly layouts we'll also highlight several background or embellishment techniques each week that you’ll be able to add to your arsenal of crafty tricks and use on your pages. Whether you scrapbook for your children, grandchildren, your pet, or for yourself, you'll definitely love putting your Cricut to work in these unique and creative ways.

This class includes:
  • A total of 12 completed layouts with various monthly themes: birthday, holidays, travel, etc. We will present specific themes on our layouts but feel free to use our layouts as a jumping off point and create in your own theme/style. Please see supply list for monthly themes to be presented.
  • 12 brand new single and double page layout sketches. Create your pages in 12” x 12”, 8-1/2” x 11” or any size you’d prefer.

  • Videos, screen shots, slide show presentations, and downloadable PDF tutorials
Students can use any Cricut machine and any cartridges for this class!
Prerequisite: This is an Intermediate/Advanced class.
  • Students may take this class if they own ANY Cricut machine, but they must have full knowledge of how to use it.
  • Students must come to class with full knowledge of how to use the Cricut Craft Room or Gypsy. Instructors will provide information for both (as well as Design Studio in some lessons) in their tutorials.

Here's a few sneak peeks for the four layouts I'll be presenting:

Join Catherine for another project-based workshop in her popular year long "In + Out" Series of 1-lesson workshops. Project Based Workshops are just like classes you would take at your local craft or scrapbook store – but you can customize the project based on your personal color and paper/embellishment choices AND you have access to the videos and hand-out for as long as you need them to complete the project.

"In + Out Easter Egg Diorama" will be a wonder in creativity and fun. You'll learn the secrets to creating a beautiful and magical Paper Mache egg diorama perfect for your Easter morning fun and home decor items.

In this workshop you will work along with Catherine to create + complete a beautiful + custom shadowbox/diorama that will be cherished for many years to come. While this is not a technique-based workshop you will learn many crafting tips and tricks from Catherine when creating this project.

What a Wonderful Birthday!

Last Sunday was my birthday. No, I don't really want to be reminded of how old I am, but it seems my kids get a kick out of telling me I'm getting older. UGH!! I received some wonderful cards from my husband and sons (which is the only thing I ask for besides no arguing!!) but my #2 son's GF gave me a bag of wonderful goodies.

Organic Hazelnut coffee, a ceramic coffee mug, truffle oil popcorn (who would've thought it tastes soooo good?) , shortbread cookies, and chocolate covered almonds.  Oh, and a jar of Agave Nectar. So thoughtful and all my favorite things.

We always go out to eat for my birthday...the boys, girlfriends, mother in law...and my pick is always The Cheesecake Factory. The Chicken Madeira is to-die-for! Yes, we had three slices of cheesecake and eight forks! ;-)
