Art Journal 2/28/2010

For this page I just painted with black acrylic paint. When it was dry, I used a stencil (from The Crafter's Workshop)with a white Sakura Souffle Pen. The color intensifies as the ink dries. Then it was onto Crayola Metallic FX Crayons. I bought them for another project, which I will get to soon, but I just had to color on the black background! LOVE IT!!

I sing this song every now and again and tell myself that I will create something artistic using the song lyrics. Just love Simon and Garfunkel. Acrylic paints, Doodlebug paper frills, Heidi Grace chipboard hearts, Zig Memory System Ball 0.5mm writes very well over acrylic. I was happily surprised.

Art Journal Feb 25, 2010

Art journal entry for today: all about my issues with my birthday which was yesterday. I have problems with the number 50. I don't feel it, I don't think I look it, and I don't want to be 50. But I am. May be struggling with this for a while, I think. UGH!

Well, at least I like my art journal page. Pink, blue, yellow and white acrylic paint. bubble wrap...gotta have some of that, you know! and stamping with a Black Soot Distress Ink pad. Black Sharpie pen and journaling with an American Crafts Precision Pen in black. It went on really well. I thought I would have problems writing on the acrylic paint, but was like butta!

A day without orange juice...

Anyone remember that commercial? "A day without orange juice is like a day without sunshine." I do, obviously!

I was outside this morning with my husband as he was fixing our wooden fence out back. I noticed that the orange tree was starting to sprout. YIPPEE!! That means that soon the bees will come to scout out the new buds and will pollinate as they go. Also, a good indicator that we're headed for much better weather!

According to my knowledge, which can sometimes be "off", you need to take off all remaining fruit as soon as the tree starts budding, so its energy can be used for the new crop, not the old one. So I was out there pulling off a few dozen oranges. And what did I do with them? When life gives you oranges...

The Start of Something NEW!

While I'm moaning about turning 50 next week(Yes, I said 50! UGH!), I decided to get a new attitude and start the art journal I've always been wanting to.

Here's the first layer of my cover. I had some leftover paint and just started playing. Yeah, I like it! :D

I've got a few colors of paints, old book papers(my fave!), and bubble wrap stamp. I just love bubble wrap!

My goal is to share here what I create in my art journal so I constantly have new art to share! YIPPEE!! I've started! Now that's the start of something new...and good!

Have you noticed your bananas lately?

Yes, I said bananas. If your grocery store stocks Chiquita's what I'm talkin' about:

For breakfast every morning I have a fruit and soy shake. What joy and happiness to see these cute little stickers on my bananas. I stick them up on the cabinet door (after telling my men not to take them down!). It's joy in the morning, I tell ya! And don't we all need a little more joy?

Color Lovin' online class

I was in my studio as usual yesterday, but I actually did some "work"...or play as it was. Check out this painted/stamped cloth. I am loving the graphic look of the black stamps.

This sample is from a technique in my online class, "Fabric, Photos & Memories" at My Creative Classroom. Class started last week, but you can still join in. Click here to view the full course description and to register.

New Book

Check out this new book from Shona Cole! It's definitely on my wish list. Hey, my birthday is coming up... :DYou can purchase it here...

This book is a practical guide to fitting creativity into your everyday life. Yes, it's's can do it! There's a 12-week guide with projects...sounds like one of those books I will end up loving. Have I mentioned that I'm a self-professed Idea Book Junkie? It's true, but I love them all!

Enjoy! I know I will!!
