Great words of wisdom

I just received one of those emails again. You know the ones....they have a long story and at the end they ask you to email it to 10 other people, etc.

Well this one was a good one. This is what Audrey Hepburn said when asked to share her beauty tips:

For attractive lips, speak words of kindness.

For lovely eyes, seek out the good in people.

For a slim figure, share your food with the hungry.

For beautiful hair, let a child run his/her fingers through it once a day.

For poise, walk with the knowledge that you never walk alone.

People, even more than things, have to be restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed, and redeemed; never throw out anyone.

Remember, if you ever need a helping hand, you will find one at the end of each of your arms.

As you grow older, you will discover that you have two hands; one for helping yourself, and the other for helping others.

Good to remember!

Blog Action Day

In honor of Blog Action Day( OK it was yesterday, so I'm a little late!), I wanted to send you over to Inspire Me Thursday's "40 creative ways to make art without leaving a big ecological footprint in the process". There are some great GREEN ways to craft and save the planet.

Personally, I love using old corrugated boxed as a canvas for art! In one of my online classes at My Creative Classroom we make such a project. Sign up for Mixed Media II: Can't Get Enough! It starts on Wednesday, October 21. We'll be using a few reuseable items for art making in that class and you'll come away with some great techniques and projects to boot!

Know what I love?

I love it when I am "allowed" to go into my #3 son's room, lay on his bed and talk to him. It's not a long talk, mind you, but he will sometimes put his head on the bed near me and let me run my fingers through his hair.

But only for a moment. And you really have to "be there" and available to catch those moments.

Hey! He's 15...that's all I get from him now and then...but I love it.

Wise Words...

My husband forwarded this to me in an email. He is in the same house as me, yet he will email me now and then. Do I want to go out to lunch on Friday? (of course!) and little emails he gets from his friends. He's cute like that. Here's one he sent today:


In April, Maya Angelou was interviewed by Oprah on her 70+ birthday. Oprah asked her what she thought of growing older. And, there on television, she said it was 'exciting...'

Regarding body changes, she said there were many, occurring every day.....like her breasts. They seem to be in a race to see which will reach her waist, first. The audience laughed so hard they cried. She is such a simple and honest woman, with so much wisdom in her words!

Maya Angelou said this: "I've learned that no matter what happens, or how bad it seems today, life does go on, and it will be better tomorrow.

''I've learned that you can tell a lot about a person by the way he/she handles these three things: a rainy day, lost luggage, and tangled Christmas tree lights.

''I've learned that regardless of your relationship with your parents, you'll miss them when they're gone from your life.

''I've learned th at making a 'living' is not the same thing as 'making a life.

''I've learned that life sometimes gives you a second chance.

''I've learned that you shouldn't go through life with a catcher's mitt on both hands; you need to be able to throw some things back...(very interesting, I thought!)

New artwork is up!

I just finished altering this photo album for a friend of mine. It's for her sister's Sweet 16 birthday coming up soon. She is having a vintage theme for her birthday. I thought quite a while on how I was going to do work with this. But I love the outcome! I wish I took a pix of it before I started! But it was just a black and white floral regular photo album.

I sanded, gessoed, painted, collaged, inked and more. Then I added the 3-D items. I love how it turned out. The inside covers are papered and dry brushed with thinned white acrylic paint.
