Scrapping-4-Inclusion

Children are very important to me. That's why I have volunteered to host a Scrapping-4-Inclusion charity crop this year in the Orlando area.

Please visit the Scrapping-4-Inclusion website and see how you can volunteer at a crop in your area or start one of your own. All proceeds benefit the Bubel-Aiken Foundation.

The Bubel/Aiken Foundation serves to bridge the gap that exists between young people with special needs and the world around them. They support communities with inclusive programs and together create awareness about the possibilities that inclusion can bring. They are creating communities where ALL children can learn, live, and play together.

Join me! Scrapping-4-Inclusion is being headed up by Laurie Weishar. She has a heart of gold and has done so much to make it easy to host a crop. There is a training manual, tips and helps to successfully host a crop and everything you need to know to get it off the ground and raising money for a great cause!

AND CHECK THIS OUT!!! Memory Makers Magazine is donating 30% of each magazine subscription to the foundation. But you have to sign up for the magazine HERE at the Scrapping-4-Inclusion website. Go there and get a subscription and see the ways you can help! Leave me a comment and let me know how you want to help!!

Deck of Me Challenge Week 9

Here's the prompt for Week 9: At this point in your life, what has been your biggest revelation?

It really doesn't matter what other people think!

Blog-a-mania!

Ooooh, one of my girlfriends just started a blog! I am so excited for her! She is uber-talented, so I can't wait to see her post all her gorgeous works of art!!! Go check out The White Eggplant. Tell Darlene that Shirley says Hello!! :D

Deck of Me Challenge weeks 7 & 8

With the addition of these two cards, I am officially "caught up" with the Deck of Me Challenge!

Week 7 prompt: What talent do you have? And what talent do you wish you had?

Well, I have been dedicated and disciplined to TaeKwonDo for over 8 years now and have a 3rd degree Black Belt to show for it. I am also closer to 50 years old than I am to 40!!! I think that's a BIG DEAL!!! Watch out 20-somethings...I am comin' for ya!!!

The talent I wish I had was the talent to be a good cook. I think my mind is off in another world, so when I cook it usually is not that terrific...either that or my family is SUPER picky, which is a true statement, too.

Week 8 prompt: If you could be someone else for a day, who would you be?

You know this song? Come on everybody sing!! "When I was just a little girl I asked my mother what will I be? Will I be pretty? Will I be rich? Here's what she said to me...Que Sera, sera..."

Well, I wanna be thin, pretty, and rich!!! What do ya think about that??!!

March online class!!

OK, there's still time to get in and register for the class I will be teaching in March through My Creative Classroom. This project is so amazing! It is one of my favorite things I ever made. And it's just for you. Click here to sign up for the "All About Me" Paper Bag Album class that starts March 5th. Yep, it's an online class! That means you can do it on YOUR time...in your jammies...even with a "bad hair day"! LOL!! Email me to request the class kit, or use your own supplies. The kit is now $5 off while supplies last. NEW PRICE is $30 including shipping to the US.

Great kid's recipe!

Well, one of my 2008 resolutions is to cook more. I have really been trying. Found a great website with recipes and shopping lists, etc. Check out 30 Meals in a Day. I got the Dinner download and did me some power cooking. Most of this is stuff you cook in one day and freeze up.

Last night I made these super easy crescent tacos. Get you some Pop 'n' Fresh crescent rolls. Take your taco meat and spoon a little bit on each of the biscuit triangles. Add some shredded cheddar. Roll 'em up and bake according to package directions. Yummie!! My kids and I loved them. It is a good little snack for your youngsters. But I should have made two packs of crescents, because with teens, they are always STILL hungry!!

Deck of Me Challenge Week 6

Please don't judge me by my artwork this week. I was two weeks behind in our "Deck of Me Challenge" and it was one of those "get 'r done" days. Our prompt this week was to use only junk mail and create a card about the junk in our lives that we need to get rid of.

My junk is the mounting stacks of old magazine issues. All scrapbooking related!! I have given myself one month to rid the house of all old issues, once I go back through and make sure there isn't anything really good in there I HAVE to keep. LOL! I am doing a little each day and making progress!! Yipee!!

What's YOUR junk?

Check out my son's blog!

My DS#1 is a diehard Orlando Magic basketball fan. He just started a blog and is so knowledgeable about all the players and drafts, etc. Here's his site boldnblue.blogspot.com.

This is a pix of Dwight Howard, in case you didn't know. I actually met DH at Best Buy one day shopping for my kids' Christmas presents. He walked in with a few friends and man...you can't miss him! That guy is tall! He was talking on his cell phone and I wanted to see if I could get an autograph for my son. I asked one of the guys with him if I could ask him to sign something for me. I didn't want to bombard the guy...it's not like I am the paparazzi!! Anyway, I came up to him and scared him, not on purpose, though! He was very cool and signed a paper I had. When I told my son, he was sooooo jealous! I told him, "I am tight with Dwight"!!!
LOL!

Get rid of your JUNK!!

That's the prompt for last weeks Deck of Me challenge. I have yet to create this card, but I know what I am doing it on...my unending pile of scrapboking and paper arts magazines!!!

I need to de-clutter. There are some mags I will not get rid of....that is basically anything from Somerset Studio. Those are definitely keepers...such great works of art!! But those regular scrapbooking mags...I need to go through them and chuck them in the trash. Actually, Julie wants my leftovers...so she gets the stack after I comb through them. I have given myself one month to get it done and make a pile for her to come and get at my next crop. Wish me luck!!! LOL!!! :D

P.S.

P.S. I found my scissors in the drawer with my corner rounder and punches...go figure how it got there??!! Thank goodness!! Can't live without my Fiskars!

Great cropping weekend!!

We had such a fun time on Saturday at my monthly crop. My friend Steph showed up who had never scrapbooked before(but she is a stamper). She was wondering why she hadn't come before...I could ask the same question, Steph!!! She was in heaven! Even had a good friend bring over her Cookie Lee Jewelry for us to try on...and buy!! Good Stuff!!!

The layout above was the only one layout I finished...actually it's not even done. I have to do the journaling!!! It is from when my DH and I celebrated our 20 year Anniversary in November. We went "down the road" to Disney for a few nights. (That's the beauty of living in Orlando!!)

Here's a few photos of the gals from the crop.

Art Collage

Just some bits and pieces of a few of my favorite things I've done over the years.

Week 5 Deck of Me Challenge

Yessiree, I am only one week behind, now. But that's OK. Here's the latest card. The prompt? What would you say to your 18-year-old self? Don't laugh...I had to scan my High School yearbook for this pix. I know I have Senior Pix of me, but I can't for the life of me remember where it is. (No, I am NOT having a "senior" moment!!)
The advice reads:
"Dear Self,
I'm not going to talk you out of or into anything. But just remember to really be true to your heart. Learn who you are. Be confident in who God made you to be. There's no need to be insecure. You are beautiful and smart and are worthy of love. DON'T SETTLE! Find who you are and celebrate it!

I've lost my scissors!!!

I lost my favorite scissors. Fiskars soft touch scissors. I know they are here...I just used them to make my project for My Creative Classroom. My family knows NOT to use my crafting scissors...under penalty of death!!! I can't stand it because I "never" lose things. OK, ok, if you have seen my craft room you'd wonder how I find ANYTHING in here!! But it's true. They were just here.

Have you seen them? I am thinking of putting out a reward for them. Let me know if you have any information concerning their disappearance!!! I'll be your best friend!!!

Come take a class with me!

Beginning Monday, February 4th, I am teaching a one-week online class at My Creative Classroom (http://www.mycreativeclassroom.com/). It is a Valentine Mini Album and is just in time to make for your sweetie. You will be amazed at how cute this is. You use your own supplies, so you don't need to purchase any class kit. You can sign up by Feb 6th and still get in! Click here to sign up!

I provide you with step-by-step instructions and pictures in a PDF format and a presentations. So if you are a visual learner, you're set! And if you just want to download the insturctions, go for it! At MCC we are not just the download-it-and-you're-done kind of place. There is interaction in the presentations, forums, galleries, chats. It really is a different kind of learning experience. I provide you with templates and quote cut-outs...and each page is a different embelllishment technique. You can't lose!!!

And, beginning March 5th, I will be teaching a three week "All About Me" paper bag album. This is a doozie!! For this one, you can either purchase the kit, which will give you the exact album I will present, or you can use your own supplies. This thing is GORGEOUS, if I do say so myself!! Click here to sign up for the paper bag album class.
Later in the Spring be watching out for an altered book class I will be teaching. I am working on the project right now and it will have a TON of techniques and accents!! This will knock your socks off!!
:D

It's February and all is well!!!

Gosh, can you believe how time is flying? I mean, wasn't it just Christmas? Here in Florida we have been having great weather and I am in shorts and bare feet! OK, I know most of the US is covered in snow and cold weather, but you gotta love Florida! I sure do!

We have been having a total blast over at My Creative Classroom this week.(http://www.mycreativeclassroom.com/) There are tons of free classes, artsy challenges, and loads of prizes. Did I mention prizes? You can win a prize just for attending the chats! Come on, what could be more easy? And free classes? Yep, it's our Grand Opening week and we want YOU to come on over and take a peek, meet the Instructors and maybe even find a few new friends. I have been having a blast in the chatrooms!!! We get pretty goofy...OK, maybe it's just me getting goofy, but it is fun! And I HAVE met alot of new friends.

My Creative Classroom is starting up in full swing next week...Feb 3rd begins the Spring Semester and there are loads of classes you can take. From beginner to advanced classes are offered. From scrapbooking to sewing!!! We know how much therapy being creative can provide, so get on over there and see what we have to offer. You can even suggest a class or two that you'd like to take.

Hope to "see" you there!!! :D
